# Responsibilities (swimlanes)

Responsibilities are used to assign their steps to some person, group, etc. Also they indicate steps assignment visually in Process Builder.

## How to add and delete Responsibility

* Dragging "Responsibility" (1) from element panel to canvas:

* Adding Responsibility by typing name (2) in [steps tree](/processes/building-a-process/process-builder-overview.md):

A new Responsibility is added to the bottom:

In case you need to delete Responsibility, click on "X" button (3) or context menu item of the Responsibility header (4, see below):

## Moving Responsibility

Open context menu item of the Responsibility header and select where to move Responsibility (5):

Whatever elements were in that Responsibility will stay with, for example:

## Moving steps between Responsibilities

Steps can be moved from one Responsibility to another by simple dragging with mouse. To move more than one step at a time select them (outline with mouse) first:

## Responsibility properties

Click on the Responsibility header (6) to show it's properties:

* Name (7) - edit it if necessary
* System (8) - allows to [make all Responsibility steps automatic](/processes/process-steps/process-step-settings/working-with-step-assignee.md#system-as-step-assignee)
* Assign Type (9) - [set assignee(s)](/processes/process-steps/process-step-settings/working-with-step-assignee.md) to all Responsibility steps
* Description (10) - populate for your assistance (optionally)
