# Milestones

Milestones are used for some visual and ergonomic purposes:

* At the Process Builder — just for clarity
* On [Progress Dashboard](/functional/dashboards/progress-dashboard/introduction-to-progress-dashboard.md) — for steps grouping

## How to add or delete Milestone

Click on the "Milestone" element (1) and drag it onto the canvas:

A new Milestone is added to the right:

In case you need to delete Milestone, click the "X" button (2) or the context menu item of the Milestone header (3):

## Moving Milestone

Open the context menu item of the Milestone header and select where to move Milestone (4). Whatever elements were in that Milestone will stay with it.

## Moving steps between Milestones

Steps can be moved from one Milestone to another by simple dragging with the mouse. To move more than one step at a time, select them first by outlining them with the mouse:

## How to change the width of a Milestone

Mouse over the line (5) to highlight it. Drag the line; the dashed line (6) shows the new Milestone width.

## Milestone properties

Click on the Milestone header (7) to show its properties:

* **Name** (8) — edit it if necessary.
* **Description** (9) — populate for your assistance, optionally.
