# Making a process unique

Making a process unique means several actions in the following sequence:

* Clone the current process. The system suggests the default name for a new process: `%original_process_name (%record_name%)`
* Set the value of the “The process will be used for a single record?” property to “yes.” This prevents the process from being started on another record.
* Activate the cloned process.
* Clone the current process instance with all steps active and completed as they were in the original instance.

To make a process unique, select the process instance and click the **Make Unique** button. Then change the suggested process name, if needed, and confirm.<br>
