# Add a system responsibility

The System responsibility allows you to specify steps that need to be taken by the system. For example, you may want the system to send an email on a specific date. The system will monitor this step for the conditions specified, and executes it when the conditions are present (e.g. the date specified has been reached).

1. Drag the responsibility icon on to the canvas.
2. Click on the new responsibility lane.
3. Click on the system checkbox.

   Note that the other options are no longer accessible.
4. Confirm the lane color changes.

   The color of the lane changes to kind of red color.
